What is a baptism?
Baptism (or Christening) marks the beginning of a journey with God which continues for the rest of our lives. When a child is baptised we thank God for the gift of their life and make a decision to start them on the journey of faith and to ask for the church’s support for the family.
In the Church of England people are often baptised as babies. Increasingly people also come for baptism when they are older children, teenagers or adults.
